Mini Photo Series :: Sunrise at Barr's Bay, Newtownards

Last Friday the sky caught fire, it was an amazing sunrise...

My original plan was to head to Crawfordsburn to catch the early morning light, however heading down the M2 I noticed very few clouds and the sun was starting to throw out those beautiful rays... So I needed to get to a place where I could shoot the sun coming up, so Strangford Lough was were I headed...

On reflection I was glad I got the sun rise as it quickly disappeared behind the clouds a few minutes after it rose...

Here's a few from Friday morning...

Mini Photo Series :: Portglenone Forest, County Antrim.

At the start of May I returned to Portglenone forest to capture the Bluebells in bloom, I have not visited anywhere else in Northern Ireland that has such a fine display of Bluebells.

The following shots were all taken between 2000 and 2100 that night..
Bluebells at Portglenone Forest, Co. Antrim

River Bann at Portglenone Forest, Co. Antrim
If your around the area at the start of next May I recommend you take a dander amongst the Bluebells...

Even worth waiting til nightfall to see the sun set over the Bann and see the start of Twilight...

Mini Photo Series :: Dunluce Castle, County Antrim.

Last Friday, Gilbert Lennox, David Torrens, Darren Anderson and myself set out on a workshop with photojournalist Kieran Dodds to capture Dunluce Castle...

It was a glorious day of sunshine, with the help of some clouds later in the day to help diffuse the harsh light.

Here are a few shots from the day:

Mini Photo Series :: Mullaghmore Head, Co. Sligo

Here are a few more of my favourite photographs from the night at Mullaghmore head in County Sligo.

They were shot with either the Nikon 70-200 f2.8 or the Sigma 10-20.

This is another beautiful part of Ireland I've discovered and I plan to return to explore more of County Donegal and County Sligo in the future.

Thanks for looking

Mini Photo Series :: Titanic Quarters

Early on Friday morning, I took a drive through Titanic Quarters, I was interested in developing a series of Cityscapes. However, as the results show, I got distracted by the lovely reflections in the water…

As I love Black & White photography, I decided to identify shots that would work well in B&W…

It’s a great location and I’ll be back in the coming weeks…

Thanks for looking…

Water & Ice – mini series

Over the recent cold spell I was fascinated by the amount of snow we had and how it impacted the Six Mile Water in Ballynure… There were many types of photographs I captured, ranging from the Sun setting over the misty river to the melt and the volume of water it had to handle.

However in this mini series I wanted to create something a little different, a little more abstract, yet still capturing the cold but peaceful nature of the river flowing around the iced capped rocks.
